CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COORDINATOR  

Description

The coordinator will work to nurture and enhance the educational ministries of Concord-St Andrews UMC: providing administrative support to the Christian Education Committee, coordinating Church School programs through the year and involving the Church School in the total life of the Church.  To work with the Church Council to provide, organize, resource and direct the Christian Education program for all ages; to train lay leaders for the task of teaching and leading Christian Education in a shared capacity.

 

Accountability

Under the guidance of the Pastor as Head of Staff and the S.P.R.C.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

   1. Recruit and support teachers.

   2. Acquire and adapt curriculum materials.

   3. Meet with the Christian Education Committee quarterly.

   4. Submit a monthly report to the Church Council on the status of the Christian Ministries.

   5. Keep accurate records ( registration, attendance, expenses, supplies)

   6. Order, distribute, evaluate and encourage effective use of curriculum materials, equipment, and

       general supplies.

   7. Working with Christian Education Committee and Pastor, plan and lead special Church School,

        events such as:

                     a. Advent

                     b. Christmas

                     c. Lent

                     d. Easter

                     e. Children's Sabbath

                     f. Christian Education Sunday

   8. Collaborate with Christian Education Committee to submit a budget to Finance Committee.

   9. Communicate with parents and caregivers to invite participation in church school programs.

  10. Work with the Christian Education Committee and the Pastor to evaluate programs and develop

        new ways of carrying out tasks.

  11. Be advocate for Christian Education.

  12. Insure that church school operates under safe sanctuary guidelines.

  13. Submit monthly written articles for the Steeple.

  14. Attend Staff Meetings.

  15. Perform other duties from time to time as may be directed by the Pastor.

 

Time Requirements

        15-18 hours per week

        One Sunday per month may be taken off because of 1/2 time position as long as all needs

         are covered.

 

Vocation Time:             After 1 year one week of paid vacation will be allowed

Study Leave:                One week per year (including one Sunday)

Probationary Period:    There will be a review 6 months after hire date.

Evaluations:                  In compliance with Church policies.

Termination:                 Both parties must notify other party in writing two weeks in advance if terms of employment are to be terminated.
